How To Change A Flat Tire

New Look Automobile Care Tips

Tire RotationHave you ever been in an accident with a flat tire on the road? Do you wish to learn about changing tires without any assistance? Actually, it is a very easy task to change the tires of your vehicle, provided that you are willing and prepared to do some effort.

Kindly, follow this guide which is made by New Look Collision Centers of Las Vegas:

•Search for a stable, safe and flat location to replace the tire. You must locate the car on solid surfaces away from hills or level surfaces that may lead the car to roll and it is recommended to turn on the hazard lights or emergency flashers.

•Lock the movement of your car. If you have a manual transmission car, then put the gear on reverse or first positions while if you have an automatic car then locate the gear in the park position.

•Put a stopper (such as; wheel, concrete, rock, etc.) behind the back and front tires.

•Prepare the jack and the spare wheel. Prepare the spare wheel next to the wheel you want to replace and put the jack in the metal groove of the car frame.

•Support the car using the jack. Make sure that the position of the jack is making a ninety degrees angle with the car.

•Disassemble the nuts of the wheel. Break the resistance by loosening the nuts while the wheel is kept on the ground level so that the torque is applied on the nuts not the wheel itself and it is advised to use the torque wrench that is designed for your car which will make the process easy for you to assemble or disassemble the nuts.

•Lift the tire using the jack. Lift the car by using the jack in order to be positioned above the ground by the amount that makes it easy for you to take the tire off and it is advised to notice the stability of the car during jacking up so that if you find any inclination or incorrect leveling then you must jack down again and solve your car problem before lifting it.

•Disassemble all nuts. Remove all nuts completely from the old tire and keep them in a safe place so that you can find them easily after using the new tire.

•Disassemble the old tire. Remove the old tire and you can put it horizontally below the car so that the probability of an injury from the jack decreases in case the jack wasn’t located on a solid surface.

•Assemble the new tire. Make sure that the spare tire rim is aligned with the bolts of the wheel and then put the nuts in their position by your hand.

•Use the Torque wrench to tighten the nuts. Use the torque wrench to tighten all nuts of the new tire and it is advised to use the star pattern when tightening the bolts in order to ensure that the diagonal forces on the wheel are equal.

•Jack down the vehicle to the ground carefully. Remove the jack and use the torque wrench to increase the torque applied on each nut.

•Repair the old tire at a professional repair shop. Ask about the cost of repairing your old tire which is usually cheap or if its condition is very bad, then you can get rid of it or sell it as scrap.
